Facebook: Are We In An Abusive Relationship?
Facebook: Are We In An Abusive Relationship?
By Kunle Ojeleye
On November 01, 2024, I commented in response to one by Folake on a post by Egbon Abiodun.
Suddenly, I received a message from Facebook that my account was disabled. I was instructed to take a selfie and upload it for Facebook to determine if my activity met its community standard or not.
Then, it would decide if I could have access back to an account I have operated since March 2009.
I took a selfie and uploaded it to Facebook immediately, but I did not get access to my account until more than 24 hours later.
Even now, almost 48 hours later, my profile is showing as locked, and I cannot download my data to transfer to another service.
I believe my posts and comments on Facebook over the years have been some of the most decent that anybody could find.
Yet, I have been banned many times by Facebook just for liking people’s congratulatory comments under my posts or for saying God bless you in response to others.
Electronic bullying is what Mark Zuckerberg and his Facebook bots or employees are engaged in with their indiscriminate banning and disabling of accounts that a person with common sense (which seems to be absent from the Facebook administrators), would know is not offensive in any shape or form.
Despite users’ complaints, Facebook has continued its history of electronic abuse and tyranny towards innocent users of the platform.
Facebook’s relationship with me has become abusive.
Once I am able to remove my content, I will be walking away from the platform by deleting all my Meta accounts – Instagram included.
I will notify you all once I do so. If for any reason I am not able to do so, for example if the account is disabled again for this post, close friends here will notify you on my behalf.
I wish all of you well.
